Self-Hosting Guide for Klip.ly Extension

Follow these steps to self-host the Klip.ly browser extension on Chrome or Chromium based browsers.

1. Download the Extension

Click the link below to download the latest version of the Klip.ly extension:

2. Extract the Files

Once the download is complete:

  • Locate the downloaded .zip file in your Downloads folder.
  • Right-click the file and choose Extract All.
  • Select a destination folder and click Extract.

3. Enable Developer Mode in Chrome

To load the unpacked extension:

  • Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/.
  • Toggle the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner.

4. Load the Extension

With Developer mode enabled:

  • Click the Load unpacked button in the top-left corner.
  • Select the folder where you extracted the extension files.
  • Click Select Folder.

The Klip.ly extension should now appear in your list of installed extensions.

5. Add Your API Key

To enable the extension:

  • Click on the Klip.ly icon in the Chrome toolbar.
  • In the popup, enter your OpenAI API key in the provided field.
  • Click Save.

6. Test the Extension

Visit a YouTube video and ensure the extension is working as expected:

  • Click the Summarize button added by the extension.
  • Review the summary provided.
